"To Be" is the English title of a Japanese-language song by Ayumi Hamasaki. It was released as the singer's eighth single on May 12, 1999. The song begins "Dare mo ga toorisugite...", and does not contain the phrase "to be" or any other English lyrics.
"To Be" was released less than a month after her first number one single, "Love (Destiny)." Hamasaki's first song to be composed by Do as Infinity composer DAI, "To Be" was unable to reach the top position on the Oricon, unlike its predecessor. Hamasaki re-recorded "To Be" in celebrating her 10th anniversary in the music business in 2008 and it appeared as a B-Side on her Days/Green single.
The music video for "TO BE" was directed by longtime collaborator Takeishi Wataru. It shows Hamasaki singing as seen by a little boy through a kaleidoscope. It makes use of various backgrounds, outfits, makeup, and wigs to bring as much color as possible into the world the little boy sees. At the end, the kaleidoscope lens breaks, and Hamasaki is seen in black and white.
To Be (做自己 Zuò zìjǐ, "be yourself") is a 1997 Mandarin-language pop album by Karen Mok. It was Mok's first album for the Taiwan and PRC markets. The album sold over 800,000 copies, and included a hit single, Ta Bu Ai Wo ("He does not love me").
"Anything" is a song composed and recorded by 3T It was their first released single, and was extracted from their first album Brotherhood. This single received a Gold Certification on January 26, 1996. It reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart as it was unable to breach the five-week reign at number one of "Spaceman" by Babylon Zoo, and #15 in the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The song was the 18th biggest selling boyband single of the 90's in the UK selling 480,000 copies. It is reported to have sold 2,000,000 copies worldwide.
Anything is the first demo EP of the Irish band The Cranberry Saw Us, later known as The Cranberries. It was self-released in cassette format. This is the only release to feature the original singer Niall Quinn. By their next release, Water Circle, Niall Quinn had been replaced by Dolores O'Riordan as lead vocalist and primary songwriter.
Guitarist Noel Hogan designed the cover art. He made an error in the band's name, spelling it "The Cranbery Saw Us" on both the cover and the liner notes. The liner notes show the original sale price was £2.00 and overwritten with £2.50. There are no surnames mentioned in the liner notes.
Anything is the seventh studio album by The Damned, released by MCA Records in 1986. On the album's release, it charted in the United Kingdom peaking at number 40 and was certified as Silver by the British Phonographic Industry. Four singles were released that all charted in the United Kingdom.
The album received some positive press but was later called inferior to the group's previous work by AllMusic. Vanian later stated he wished the album had better production.
The album began production in June 1986 in Puk Recording Studios in Denmark. The Damned's vocalist, Dave Vanian, later stated that the group were forced into the studio to record the album before they had prepared any new material for it. Drummer Rat Scabies mentioned that the group had demoed the song "In Dulce Decorum", but most of the songs were written in the studio. In July, the group took a break from recording to perform a 10th anniversary performance in London at the Town and Country Club and two in Finsbury Park, where the group performed some songs that would appear on Anything, and were joined by Captain Sensible to perform "Smash It Up". On returning to Denmark, the group recorded a cover of "Alone Again Or" which Scabies originally thought was written by Roman Jugg. The album concluded production in August.
Creative may refer to:
Creative Technology Ltd. is a Singapore-based global company headquartered in Jurong East, Singapore. The principal activities of the company and its subsidiaries consist of the design, manufacture and distribution of digitized sound and video boards, computers and related multimedia, and personal digital entertainment products.
It also partners with mainboard manufacturers and laptop brands to embed its Sound Blaster technology on their products.
The firm began as a computer repair shop, where Sim Wong Hoo developed an add-on memory board for the Apple II computer. Later, they started creating customized PCs adapted in Chinese. A part of this design included enhanced audio capabilities, so that the device could produce speech and melodies. The success of this audio interface led to the development of a standalone sound card.
In 1987, they released a 12-voice sound generator sound card for the IBM PC architecture, the Creative Music System (C/MS), featuring two Philips SAA1099 chips. Sim personally went from Singapore to Silicon Valley and managed to get RadioShack's Tandy division to market the product. The card was, however, unsuccessful and lost to AdLib. Learning from this, Creative produced the first Sound Blaster, which included the prior CM/S hardware but also incorporated the Yamaha YM3812 chip (also known as OPL2) that was found on the AdLib card, as well as adding a component for playing and recording digital samples. The firm used aggressive marketing strategies, from calling the card a "stereo" component (only the C/MS chips were capable of stereo, not the complete product) to calling the sound producing micro-controller a "DSP" (for "digital sound processor"), hoping to associate the product with a digital signal processor (the DSP could encode/decode ADPCM realtime, but otherwise had no other DSP-like qualities).
I tied on my boots and strapped on my bracelet
to go out and meet some new faces.
Went to the store to buy some dark gin,
and now I know my night's ready to begin.
A dozen friends in my big 'ol car,
my '62 Buick can't take us too far.
Out for the night, it'll be so rude,
gotta hold us down before the night is through.
In Grand Rapids, there's nothing to do.
When you're down it's the same way too.
Gotta get up, do the best that you can.
To be a fool, is to be a man.
Well I went to the party with the big 'ol keg.
They said the way I drank, they thought I had a hollow leg.
Standing around, starting to groove,
with my beer in hand I think I'll plot my next move.
I spot a pretty girl giving me a wink
trying to catch my eye, or so I think.
Such a fool I am, should not have overlooked
that her eyes were only clouded by the smoke.
Well I went to Denny's to buy me some food,
said it's the only place that can put me in the mood.
I order my fries and always complain,
but the way they taste I think I'd rather eat them plain.
But I'm still with my friends, still having fun
talking shit while the night is still young.
But I bet they watch me drink as much as I'm able,
I know they'll laugh when they find me passed out on the table.
